Body in the parcel: West Godavari police have arrested the suspect

The West Godavari police have arrested some suspects while investigating the sensational case of a dead body being found in the form of a parcel at a woman’s house in Yendgandi village.

Sagi Tulsi, a woman who sought financial help from a social worker for building a house in Undi mandal of the district, received a parcel on Thursday, which was filled with the partially decomposed body of a man. Tulsi’s husband has been missing for the past 13 years and has been living alone in the village. It is said that there is a property dispute with his sister Revathi.

“The accused stuffed the rotting body in a wooden box. We are trying to identify the body and the photographs of the victim have been sent to all police stations in the state and circulated on various social media platforms,” said West Godavari district Superintendent of Police (SP) Adnan Naeem Asmi. Hindu Friday.

The woman (Tulsi) found the dead body around 5 pm on Thursday. However, the incident came to light on Friday after the family reached the Undi police station around 9 pm. He said that an investigation is underway as to why the family members went to the police less than four hours after the body was found.

Meanwhile, the parcel was not booked through a courier service, but was delivered by an auto driver. Efforts are on to trace the person who sent two parcels containing tiles and painting materials to Tulsi in September 2024, said the SP who is monitoring the investigation.

Revathi’s husband Siddharth Verma, who stayed with family members for some time after receiving the parcel, is absconding since last night. We are trying to trace him,” said Mr. Adnan Naeem.

The post-mortem of the body will be conducted by a team of forensic officers at the Eluru Government General Hospital (GGH) on Saturday, to ascertain whether it was a homicide or death due to natural causes. How and from where the accused brought the body and the auto driver who delivered the parcel is being searched. 11 teams have been formed to investigate the incident, said the SP.

The victim may have died four or five days ago. Police are collecting details of missing persons in the state, said Mr. Adnan Naeem.
