BJP MP from Odisha Aparajita Sarangi gave a bag with “1984” written on it to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the corridor of Parliament on Friday.
The inscription was a reference to anti-Sikh riots in 1984, when Congress workers and leaders were accused of inciting mobs to kill members of the community following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
According to the news agency PTIBhadra took the bag from Sarangi and walked away.
days ago, Priyanka was seen in Parliament carrying a bag with the word ‘Palestine’ written on it In this Later, she also wore a bag that read ‘Bangladesh ke Hindu aur Isaiyan ke Saath Khade Raho’ (Stand with the Hindus and Christians of Bangladesh).
While some Congress leaders praised Vadra for the Palestine bag, calling it a “gesture of compassion, commitment to justice and humanity”, the BJP accused him of “appeasement” politics.
“They (Congress leaders) have never hung the bag of patriotism on their shoulders. This bag is the reason for their defeat, said party MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra.
