New Delhi:
One person was killed and two others were injured when three motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on three friends who were returning home on a scooter in Northeast Delhi’s Kabir Nagar area last night.
Nadeem and his two friends were on their way to get food when the assailants ambushed them on the road. Nadeem was shot dead and his friend was seriously injured. The assailants left behind their own motorcycle and fired seven rounds before fleeing the scene with Nadeem’s scooter and mobile phone.
Locals reached the spot and took the injured to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where Nadeem died of serious injuries. His friend is in critical condition and is being treated. The police have started an investigation into the murder and the killing industry and have sent the body for post-mortem.
The police arrested three minors involved in the incident. According to sources, one of the three arrested minors took money from Nadeem and pressured him to return it. The police investigation is ongoing, with officers examining CCTV footage.
The attackers have also been linked to a shooting incident in nearby Jyoti Nagar. Police said that the same group fired 6 rounds outside the house of a person named Rahul at night. All the three people who were arrested with three native pistols are being detained and are being interrogated.
In a separate operation, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police recovered 13 pistols from two prominent members of an arms supply syndicate. Key arms supplier Shakeel has been arrested in more than 17 criminal cases, including his involvement in the Hanuman Jayanti riots in Jahangirpuri. Last week alone, more than 50 pistols were seized from various suppliers.
