Vijayawada: Law and Minority Welfare Minister NMD Farooq has announced the release of an initial payment of `26.13 crore for the establishment of minority educational institutions as part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Yojana (PMJVK).
The Minister said that the PMJVK scheme is being implemented by the Central Government in collaboration with the State Governments. Under this scheme, various constructions are designed with the aim of ensuring the welfare of the minorities.
These include the establishment of junior colleges for boys and girls, welfare hostels, community halls and other infrastructure to enhance the educational development of minorities.
He promised proper and speedy utilization of funds from central government schemes for the welfare of minorities.
Farooq said, “To ensure effective utilization of central funds, the state government is taking swift action. The state issued an order to release Rs 26.13 crore as the first installment of funds for the PMJVK scheme.
The minister alleged that the previous government denied minorities access to any welfare schemes, including those funded under the PMJVK framework. The YSRC government failed to release state funds for PMJVK initiatives, further complicating the flow of central funds. This has confused the formation of minority institutions.
Farooq expressed optimism that the constructions funded by PMJVK would create dedicated educational institutions for students from minority communities.
