On Thursday, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance, went to visit Sonia Gandhi at her residence situated in 10 Janpath. During the visit he handed personally an invitation for his son Anant Ambani’s upcoming marriage with Radhika Merchant that is scheduled for July 12th. This news was broken by news agency ANI.
Ambanis started their wedding celebrations by organizing a ‘Samuh Vivah’ – a mass wedding of fifty underprivileged couples from Palghar. It took place at Reliance Corporate Park and it included around eight hundred guests who comprised of family members of the wedded pairs; social workers as well as community leaders among others. Nita Ambani who established and chairs Reliance Foundation said that this function symbolizes traditional values and service to humanity.
Grand weddings are meticulously planned according to Hindu vedic traditions. The main rituals will start on Friday July 12th with Shubh Vivah (marriage ceremony). On Saturday July 13th there will be more celebrations with Shubh Aashirwad which will end up with Mangal Utsav – the wedding reception on Sunday July 14th. In order to show respect for this occasion, men and women can wear traditional Indian attires.
Radhika Merchant whose parents are Viren Merchant CEO Encore Healthcare and Shaila Merchant Entrepreneur coming together signifies Ambanis’ union with another influential industrialist family. Invitees have been directed to dress in “Indian chic” for the final event.
Nita Ambani expressed her joy at the mass wedding event stating: “I feel extremely happy seeing the newlywed couples here… I give my blessing to all these couples. The ‘Shubh-lagna’ ceremonies of Anant and Radhika begin today with today’s mass wedding event.”
