West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (December 19, 2024) said she was shocked by Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments about late BR Ambedkar.
“I am shocked by the comments made about Babasaheb Ambedkar,” the Chief Minister said while speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Kolkata Christmas Festival’ at Allen Park in the Park Street area.
On Wednesday, Ms Banerjee said Mr Shah’s comments in the Rajya Sabha about Ambedkar were a demonstration of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “casteist and anti-Dalit mentality”.

She called the comments insulting, claiming they were an insult to millions of people who looked to Ambedkar for guidance and inspiration.
