The Nitish Kumar-led government has stepped up efforts to conduct aptitude tests for contract teachers. Now, they will be allowed five attempts, up from the earlier limit of three attempts, to pass the qualifying test.
The decision is aimed at providing more opportunities to candidates to enhance their preparation and improve their chances of success, an official said.
The Cabinet has approved amendments to the Bihar Special Teachers Rules, signaling a reform in the teacher transfer policy.
A new teacher transfer policy will be formulated under which teachers who have successfully passed the qualifying examination and wish to remain on the current roster will now have the option of continuing to contribute to their existing posts.
A total of 2,53,534 contract teachers have successfully passed the proficiency test and have been recognized as special teachers.
These teachers will continue to serve in their respective posts and will get special teacher pay.
At present, 85 thousand 609 teachers could not pass the qualification test, so the status of special teachers may be affected.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of 469 additional posts of Block Minority Welfare Officers under the Minority Welfare Department in Bihar. This decision aims to increase welfare services for minority communities in the state.
Apart from this, other important decisions have been made regarding various schemes related to education, health, infrastructure and government schemes. These initiatives are expected to accelerate the overall development of Bihar and improve the quality of services provided to its citizens.
Briefing the media after the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary said that these decisions are important for the development of the state and will help in the smooth running of government work in Bihar.
