As the mercury gradually rises in Telangana, the cold wave is subsiding

Telangana is experiencing respite from the cutting cold wave, as the minimum temperature across the state shows a steady upward trend.

According to data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), the lowest minimum temperature recorded on December 20, 2024 was 14 degrees Celsius in Adilabad, while the highest minimum temperature was registered at 22.6 degrees Celsius in Khammam.

Beginning in the week of December 16, the state was gripped by a cold wave, with as many as 27 districts recording temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, and the highest minimum temperature hovering around 12 degrees Celsius. However, as the week progressed, the chilly mornings eased, providing much-needed relief to residents.

Hyderabad, the state capital, which experienced temperatures between 10 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius during the early days of the week, recorded an average of 21.4 degrees Celsius on Friday morning.

Kumaram Bhim Asifabad recorded a minimum temperature of 15.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Rajanna Sirsilla at 16.1 degrees Celsius, Nizamabad at 16.1 degrees Celsius, Nirmal at 16.5 degrees Celsius and Kamareddy at 16.8 degrees Celsius. Vikarabad (17.1°C), Sangareddy (17.8°C), Siddipet (17.9°C), Rangareddy (18.1°C), Medak (18.2°C), and Jagatial (18.1°C). 3°C) including other districts reported moderate. cold weather

In the southern part of the state, the minimum temperature has increased slightly. The temperature is 19.4 degrees Celsius in Mahbubnagar, 19.5 and 19.7 degrees Celsius in Mancherial and Yaddri Bhongir respectively. Hanamkonda recorded 19.9 degrees Celsius and both Peddapally and Jangaon recorded 20 degrees Celsius. Karimnagar (20.2 °C), Jaishankar Bhupalpally (20.6 °C), Narayanpet and Mulugu (20.8 °C each), and Nalgonda (21 °C) saw a slight increase in temperature.

In urban and central districts, the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.1 degrees Celsius in Medchal-Malkazgiri, 21.4 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad and 21.6 degrees Celsius in Warangal. Wanaparti and Mahbubad reported 21.8 degrees Celsius and Jogulamba Gadwal reported 22.1 degrees Celsius. Bhadradri Kothagudem (22.2 °C), Suryapet (22.5 °C), and Khammam (22.6 °C) round out the list of highest minimum temperatures in the state.
