On AP Fibernet financial crisis, APSFL chief reveals

Vijayawada: AP Fibernet is red and on the verge of collapse, APSFL president GV Reddy revealed. During the YSRC regime, officials illegally paid Rs 2.10 crore to director Ramgopal Varma for the film ‘Vyuham’.

Addressing the media in Amravati on Thursday, Reddy recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had launched APSFL in 2016 with the sole objective of providing internet facilities to poor and middle class people.

By 2019, 24,000 kilometers of cable had been laid and more than 1 million people were given connections. Now this number has reduced to 5 lakh, he said.

He said that the authorities are investigating the corruption in AP Fibernet Limited.

“YSRC government harassed cable operators. The then MD Madhusudan will be prosecuted after a thorough investigation. YSRC leaders have tampered with key files and registers to hide corruption. Some important documents have been moved to the house of YSRC MP Vijayasai Reddy. By a woman employee,” he alleged.

Specific female employees were removed from service.

GV Reddy said they were planning to reduce expenses and raise funds.

He added that “Vyuham” director should have been paid Rs 2 lakh for 1.8 lakh views, but the officer paid Rs 2.10 crore.
