Controversy erupted in the House over the opposition to the MLA’s alcohol test

Hyderabad:There was a war of words between the Treasury Bench and BRS members in Parliament on Wednesday over the allegations of drunkenness. The episode eventually ordered the speaker to remove the comments from the record.

BRS leader T. The exchange began when Harish Rao suggested that members should be tested for alcohol before entering homes rather than on the streets.

The comments came even as Minister for Roads and Buildings, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, was replying in detail to a question on the status of NGT clearance to convert the Karimnagar-Kamareddy-Yellareddy state highway into a national highway.

This led to protests from the Treasury Bench and Congress MLA Berla Ilia alleged that some members were drinking alcohol in the farmhouse in reference to BRS president KCR’s screen.

After accusing each other on this matter, the speaker intervened and ordered to remove the comments from the records.
