BJP’s preparations for the upcoming Delhi polls gained momentum on Wednesday with the announcement of a 21-member state election committee that could announce the party’s first list within a week along with screening of potential candidates.
AAP has declared its choice for each of Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies while Congress has done so for 21 seats. The BJP is yet to announce a single candidate due to reasons ranging from a possible reorganization of its state unit to the ongoing winter session of Parliament, sources said.
“The first list of at least 25 candidates may be announced on or before December 25. BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh has issued instructions to ensure this without any delay,” said a senior party leader.
