21 beneficiaries of Grihalakshmi monthly payment scheme visited Suvarna Soudh in Belagavi on Wednesday.
They took a bus from the home office of Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar to Suvarna Soudh. After being welcomed by the officials of the department, they were seated in the visitors’ gallery to watch the meeting. They met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Chairman HM Revanna and some MLAs and officials. The beneficiaries, including some members of the third gender, thanked the Chief Minister and asked him to use the money for productive work.
Ms. Hebbalkar introduced Mabu B and Roshan Begum, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law of Gajendragarh in Gadag district, who managed to dig a borewell using the Grilahakshmi payment savings. The Chief Minister also met Mallava Meti of Raibag who opened a library for rural students and others.
Mr. Siddaramaiah later told reporters that there was no question of stopping the very popular and very useful scheme for women and their families.
