New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday alleged that Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments during the Constitution debate in the Rajya Sabha showed BJP and RSS leaders “deep hatred” towards BR Ambedkar and demanded an apology from him. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that those who believed in Manusmriti would definitely be at odds with Ambedkar.
“AB X Fashion Ho Gaya Hi – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar has become Enum Ambedan Kali (It has become a fashion. , Ambedkar’ would have been given a place in heaven if God’s name was taken as many times as he took it). ,’ said Shah, attacking the opposition.
Shah said the BJP was happy that the Congress had named Ambedkar but the party should also speak about its true feelings towards him. He pointed out how Ambedkar had to resign from the first cabinet in disagreement with the then Congress-led government’s policies, including Article 370.
“Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar ji did not allow this to happen, that’s why there is so much hatred towards him,” Kharge said.
“Modi government ministers must understand that for millions of people like me, Babasaheb Ambedkar is no less than God… He is and will always be the messiah of Dalits, tribals, backward classes, minorities and the poor.” Kharge said in a post in Hindi on X.
In a post on X, Ramesh said, “Amit Shah has said very despicable things. It shows that BJP and RSS leaders have a lot of hatred towards Babasaheb Ambedkar.”
“The hatred is such that even his name evokes anger. These are people whose forefathers used to burn effigies of Baba Saheb, who themselves talked about changing the constitution given by Baba Saheb,” the Congress leader said.
He said that after teaching the people a lesson, now they are angry with those who take Baba Sahab’s name.
“Shameful! Amit Shah should apologize to the country for this,” Ramesh asserted.
Congress general secretary organization in-charge KC Venugopal also criticized Shah’s statement.
“HM Amit Shah, in case you didn’t know – Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is equal to God and the Constitution he drafted is a holy book for millions of people all over the world. How dare you say such a derogatory thing about Dr. Ambedkar??” He said.
“BJP’s hatred for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has always been known, and the Home Minister’s pitiful statement in the Rajya Sabha today further confirms how much they hate and despise Dr. Ambedkar,” Venugopal alleged in a post on X.
Manusmriti worshipers will always have a grudge against Ambedkar who rejected the racist RSS and their Manusmriti-driven ideologies, he said.
“Those who used to talk about changing the constitution if they won 400+ seats are now openly mocking our country’s reverence for Dr. Ambedkar,” Venugopal said.
Those who pretended to bow down to him could not hide their true feelings for long, and this alarming statement by top BJP leaders shows that they have lost the right to speak about Ambedkar again, he said.
The home minister attacked the Congress in the Rajya Sabha and said the party had treated the Constitution as a family’s “private fiefdom” and had “cheated” Parliament.
Concluding the two-day debate on the “glorious journey of 75 years of the Constitution of India”, Shah slammed the Congress for its politics of appeasement and claimed that the party wanted to break the 50 per cent quota limit to provide reservation to Muslims.
He also asked the Congress if it supported the Muslim Personal Law and accused the party of never working for the benefit of backward classes. Shah asserted that the BJP has already introduced the Common Civil Code (Uniform Civil Code) in Uttarakhand and will implement it in all states.
