To protest the TNCC’s failure to discuss issues like communal violence in Manipur and corruption by the Adani group

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai on Tuesday said the state unit will stage a siege protest in Saidapet against the Tamil Nadu governor over the BJP-led central government’s refusal to discuss important issues flagged by the opposition Bharat Bloc. Regarding the communal violence in Manipur and the Prime Minister’s failure to personally meet those affected, and the allegations of corruption against the Adani Group in Parliament.

In a statement, Mr. Selvaperunthgai said the All India Congress Committee has decided to hold protests in all state capitals against the BJP’s refusal to debate several issues in Parliament.

The opposition has been deprived of the opportunity to debate these issues in both houses of Parliament. We have been forced to lay siege to the Raj Bhavan over allegations that the Adani Group bribed more than 2,000 Indian officials to win contracts from the Solar Energy Corporation of India. Through these deals, the Adani Group will earn $2 billion (₹17,000 crore) over the next 20 years. Based on this, the American court indicted Gautam Adani and others. This has reduced India’s image in the world,’ he said.

Mr. Selvaperunthagai said that Adani group illegally bagged contracts for airports, ports, national highways, power generation and distribution during the 10 years of PM Modi’s tenure.

“We want to expose Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to protect Mr. Adani from these allegations in the people’s court,” he said.

Mr. Selvaperunthagai further said that communal violence erupted in Manipur in May last year, in which 220 people died.

“The Indian bloc leaders demanded a discussion in Parliament on the failure of BJP CM N Biren Singh of Manipur to provide safety and security to the Kuki community. Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps visiting various places within India and abroad, but fails to offer words of comfort to the suffering people of Manipur,” he said. said

Mr. Selvaperunthgai said that BJP’s intention to pass ‘One Nation, One Election’ will never materialize without a majority in both the Houses of Parliament. After the bill is passed by the Parliament, it is likely to go to the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
