Jharkhand HC holds publication of CGL exam results till January 22

The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday stayed the final results of the Jharkhand State Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination.

The High Court has directed the state government to register an FIR under the Conduct of Examinations Act 2023 and submit a report after investigation into the complaint regarding the leakage of JSSC-CGL examination papers. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 22.

A division bench of Chief Justice MS Ratna Shri Ramachandra Rao and Justice Deepak Roshan heard the petition in the alleged paper leak case in the JSSC-CGL examination.

The petitioners had demanded that the JSSC cancel the CGL examination conducted on August 21 and 22 and investigate it by the CBI.

After hearing all the debates, the High Court has now stopped the examination results. However, document verification will continue. It has been asked not to publish the results until the court orders.

During the hearing, advocate Sanjay Piprawal argued on behalf of the commission and Ajit Kumar on behalf of the petitioner.

Students have welcomed the Jharkhand High Court’s stay on the final results of the CGL exam. Student leader S Ali said that although many candidates complained, the commission was not ready to accept it.

Police on Monday had to resort to lathicharge to disperse protesting students who had gathered near JSSC in Ranchi to protest against alleged examination irregularities. Devendranath Mahato, leader of the Jharkhand State Students Union, who is leading the protest, has also been detained by the police.

Out of 3.04 lakh candidates, JSSC selected 2,231 candidates and called them for document verification by JSSC between December 16 and 22. Earlier, JSSC Secretary Sudhir Gupta dismissed the allegations of malpractice, claiming that the examination was conducted in a free and fair manner. .
