The IT Minister highlighted the innovation-driven growth of Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu’s strength lies in its unparalleled tech talent, with 20% of India’s technology professionals hailing from the state, said Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for IT and Digital Services.

At the 22nd edition of CII Connect 2024 held in Chennai, he said, “More than 80% of the workforce in the state’s IT sector is local, a unique distinction in India, which is home to several thriving IT hubs including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Salem.”

The minister further said that Tamil Nadu had allowed startups to propose technological solutions without going through the traditional tender process, thereby promoting faster innovation.

“Key priorities for the next four years include graduating talent with skills and integrating them into the workforce through the ICT Academy and establishing policies for R&D, deep technology, and AI guidelines; building a skilled and stable local workforce; reducing attrition; and encouraging startups to innovate and grow.” Providing support programs for,” he said.

Director of Software Technology Park of India V. Mahadesha said: “With a clear vision of development, the state aims to establish 400 Global Capability Centers (GCCs) by 2027 for innovation, employment and economic transformation. ”

“Internet penetration in Tamil Nadu sets a benchmark for the rest of the country, with 12,525 village panchayats accessing an optical fiber network providing 1 GBPS high speed internet.
