Akali and BJP targeted the AAP government in Punjab over law and order

After the blast at the Islamabad police station in Amritsar, Punjab, opposition parties have besieged the AAP government over the law and order situation in Punjab. After the explosion on Tuesday, the provincial police chief presided over a high-level meeting.

An official statement said that Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, visited the police station in Amritsar after the “attack”. He directed the authorities to ensure professional policing and strict action against the culprits. The visit took place a few hours after the incident was reported around 3 am on Tuesday.

Presiding over the meeting, Yadav emphasized the need for authorities to use both technical and human intelligence to trace and arrest those responsible for the attack. He urged the authorities to identify the common trends and patterns of such crimes and conduct scientific investigations using technical and forensic tools to detect crimes and ensure punishment.

Senior SAD leader Vikram Singh Majithia said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann “must take moral responsibility for the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and immediately resign from the post of Home Minister.”

The Akali leader said that the AAP government cannot take attacks on police stations lightly. “In the earlier incident when a grenade exploded at the Majitha police station, the police claimed it was a tire burst… All these attacks are a clear indication of intelligence failure and the chief minister should take moral responsibility for it.” He said.

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said the incident showed a complete breakdown of law and order in the state. “These repeated blasts show that the AAP government has failed to control violent forces. The failure of the AAP government is a matter of great concern for Punjab,” he said.
