Badlapur case: Senior police inspector suspended after departmental probe, Maharashtra govt tells Bombay HC | Mumbai News

The state government on Tuesday informed the Bombay High Court that it has suspended the senior police inspector of Badlapur police station who was investigating the sexual assault case for dereliction of duty by delaying the registration of an FIR in the case.

It has been said that a departmental inquiry has been conducted against the government official and two police constables of the police station have been released with a ‘stern warning’ for not taking the case seriously.

A bench of Justices Revathi Mohite-Dere and Prithviraj K Chavan is hearing a self-initiated public interest litigation taking cognizance of the news of two four-year-old children being sexually molested by a cleaning staff at a school in Badlapur, Thane. August.

The investigation of the incident has been handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police.

Public prosecutor Hiten Venegaonkar told the bench that two charge-sheets have been filed in the incident and the police officer has been suspended as well as his increment of two years.

Further, Venegaonkar said the report of the committee based on the court’s direction to recommend security measures in the school would be submitted next month.

The Supreme Court accepted the statement and held a hearing on Thursday, January 19, regarding whether the parents of the accused sanitation workers who were killed in the police encounter should be given police protection.

The state lawyer said that the deceased’s parents refused to provide police protection, but his lawyer denied this.

After the state counsel submitted that the two four-year-old children had been transferred to another school but school leaving certificates and school fee refunds had not yet been issued, the high court asked Venegaonkar to look into the matter.
