Madhya Pradesh Recruitment Exam: Candidates get 101.66 marks out of 100; Job aspirants protested in Indore

Job aspirants have protested in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, questioning the “normalization” process followed by a candidate scoring 101.66 out of 100 in the state government’s recruitment exam.

The protestors have demanded a fair investigation, alleging that the entrance exam was rigged.

Normalization is the process of ensuring that students are not advantaged or disadvantaged by the difficulty of the papers they write. The process involves modifying a student’s score in a way that makes it comparable to another’s score.

This is necessary when the examination of the same subject is conducted in several sessions, each with a different paper.

On Monday (December 16, 2024), some protesting unemployed youth gathered in front of the district collector’s office and handed over a memorandum to an official addressing Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, according to eyewitnesses.

In the memorandum, it is mentioned that a candidate has scored 101.66 marks out of 100 in the Joint Entrance Examination 2023 (Van and Jail Recruitment Examination 2023) of the Forest and Jails Department and topped the selection list.

The result of the examination conducted by the Bhopal-headquartered Madhya Pradesh Staff Selection Board was declared on December 13, 2024.

After the announcement of the results, the board has clarified that the ‘normalization process’ has been adopted in the admission test as per the rules, as the candidates can score more than full (100) and less than zero marks.

One of the protestors, Gopal Prajapat, told reporters, “This is the first time in the history of the state that a candidate has scored more than the total marks after the normalization process was adopted in the recruitment exam. We are protesting the unfair process. Normalization.” He demanded a fair investigation, alleging that the recruitment examination for the posts of Forest Guard, Field Guard (Executive) and Jail Guard (Executive) was rigged.

Prajapat warned that if nothing is done in this matter, the job seekers will start a big protest.
