Hyderabad: The BJP has reiterated its demand for a discussion in the Assembly on GO 317, saying it has adversely affected government employees in their local positions. The employees have been up in arms against the government since the state was reorganized in 2016 to create 31 new districts from 10 and a new system was drawn up regarding service rules.
Payal Shankar, BJP MLA from Adilabad, said that the basis of the separate Telangana movement was the local situation. However, the previous BRS government ignored it while formulating the GO. He pointed out that the BJP has asked the Congress government to discuss GO 317 in the ongoing Assembly session during the Business Advisory Committee meeting. However, the government has not given any response, he said.
The MLA demanded the state government to scrap the GO as it led to several discrepancies in the seniority list after the formation of 31 new districts. He said that while allocating permanent posts, the nativity of the employees was not considered while transferring them to other districts. He said, ‘Employees, especially teachers, have been complaining that the government has not allocated the transfer of couples in the same district.
