Chinese Ambassador Su Feihong informed that National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will hold a new edition of special representative talks on the border issue in Beijing on Wednesday.
After a gap of about five years, the Special Representative (SR) talks will be held between the two sides. The last round of SR Dialogue was held in New Delhi in December 2019.
As agreed by China and India, Wang and Doval will hold the 23rd meeting of the Special Representative for the China-India Border Dispute in Beijing on December 18, Su said in a post on ‘X’ on Monday night.
There has been no response from the Indian side to the SR dialogue.

In their diplomatic talks on December 5, India and China prepared for the upcoming SR Dialogue.
India’s special representative for the talks is NSA Doval, while the Chinese side is led by Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
In view of the Eastern Ladakh border dispute, there has been no SR dialogue in the last five years.
A military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020, and a deadly clash in the Galwan Valley in June that year caused serious strain in relations between the two neighbors.
According to the agreement reached on October 21, the face-off was effectively ended after the disengagement process from the last two friction points of Demchok and Depsang was completed.
Two days after the deal, Modi and Xi held talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to revive various dialogue mechanisms, including special representative talks on the border dispute.
