Nearly 300 people are undergoing treatment for suspected food poisoning in Kannur

Many people who attended the Perunkaliattam at the Cheruthajam Kokkadu Muchilottu temple in Payyanur suffered from food poisoning during the last two days of the festival. On Saturday and Sunday, about 300 people went to Payyannur Taluk Hospital and private hospitals for treatment.

Although some people were admitted to the hospital, most of those who sought treatment were given treatment and sent home, health officials said.

Preliminary investigations have shown that people who ate ice cream, oil-cooked snacks and eggs from a makeshift eatery set up as a festival were poisoned.
