The state government will fill up the vacancies in the health department in a phased manner, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao told the Legislative Council in Belagavi on Monday.
The department has already filled up half of the vacant posts on contract. The minister said that the rest will be filled through contracts and direct appointments.

The minister said that out of 69 thousand 915 posts in the department, 37 thousand 45 are filled and 32 thousand 870 are still vacant.
Among the vacancies, more than 75% of Group D posts will not be filled through contracting and outsourcing, he said.
Admission will be done in Taluk and District Hospitals in consultation with Deputy Commissioners. He said that permission has been sought from the Finance Department to fill the posts of specialist doctors and general duty medical officers under certain conditions.
100 specialist doctors and 120 MBBS doctors who have completed postgraduate studies will be appointed on contract immediately. Regular appointments will follow, the minister said.
He said that medical graduates and post-graduates who will join the compulsory service will be posted on vacant posts.
He informed that the process of direct recruitment for 400 posts of pharmacy officer, 150 junior medical officers, 150 laboratory technical officers and eight posts of radiology imaging officer is going on. Verified.
He said that the services of 200 junior laboratory technical officers and 400 pharmacy officers will be outsourced until the posts are filled through regular recruitment.
320 posts will be filled in Kalyan Karnataka region. The proposal to recruit 9 thousand 871 para medical posts that are vacant in the department is under consideration in the finance department. He said that he will proceed after approval.
