SP launched an initiative against road accidents in Sri Sathya Sai district

Superintendent of Police (SP) V Ratna launched the ‘Face Wash and Go’ program at Kotacherubhu Mandal headquarters of Sri Sathya Sai District on Sunday.

The program is designed to implement preventive measures against road accidents, especially targeting drivers of lorries, buses, vans and cars navigating national and state highways at night.

Ms. Ratna directed police personnel across the district to conduct regular patrols and inspections at bus stands and railway stations with special emphasis on identification of suspicious objects and persons.

‘Operation Freedom’

Meanwhile, the SP launched the ‘Operation Freedom’ programme, which involves women police officers in collaboration with voluntary organizations across the district.

The primary objective of the program is to monitor the mechanic workshops, grocery stores, hotels and dhabas along the highway, and to rescue minors under the age of 14 who are engaged in any work. The initiative was taken simultaneously in Dharmavaram, Battlapalli, Parigi, Mudugubba, Kothacheruvu and Hindupur mandals.

Ms. Ratna warned that employing minors in a work environment is a violation of their fundamental rights. He informed the field staff to counsel shop owners on the legal ramifications of employing minors.
