Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday indicated that the Center is coming up with a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for families of surrendered Maoist and extremism victims.
Addressing the families of the jawans killed in the encounter with the Maoists, he said, “The Ministries of Home, Tribal Affairs and Rural Development are working together to provide comprehensive support to these families, reiterating the government’s commitment to their rehabilitation and progress.” , and relatives of victims of Naxal violence in Jagdalpur of Bastar in the state.
Mr. Shah had earlier on Sunday addressed former rebels from the states of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Assam at Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar in Chhattisgarh.
He informed that from 2019 to 2024, more than 9,000 militants have given up their arms and joined the mainstream in the Northeast region and said that many Maoists have given up their arms and joined the mainstream.
The Union Home Minister on Monday paid homage to the jawans who were martyred in the encounter with the Maoists at the Martyr’s Memorial in Jagdalpur.
He vowed to root out Naxalism in Chhattisgarh and declared that “not a single drop of blood will be shed in the name of Naxalism on the holy land of Maa Danteshwari (referring to Bastar) after March 31, 2026.”
“The Chhattisgarh government is focused on three main fronts to make the state Naxal-free: welcoming those who surrender, arresting those who indulge in violence, and punishing Naxalites determined to harm innocent lives,” he said.
Praising the Chhattisgarh government for effectively dealing with the Maoist menace, he said, “The achievements of the past year in fighting Naxalism in Chhattisgarh have been unprecedented.
“Never before has such a large area been freed from Naxal influence in a single year, nor have such a large number of Maoists been acquitted, arrested or surrendered.”
In the last one year, 287 Naxals were acquitted, nearly 1,000 arrested and 837 surrendered in Chhattisgarh.
He appreciated the Bishnu Dev Sai government for implementing a highly effective and coherent strategy in this endeavour.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the campaign for a Naxal-free India has received significant support from the victims’ families.
