Actor Allu Arjun on Sunday (Dec 15, 2024) said he was deeply concerned about the health of a boy who was admitted to hospital due to “asphyxiation” after he was mobbed in a theater during the premiere of his latest film ‘Pushpaa 2’.
A 35-year-old woman died and her eight-year-old son was hospitalized when thousands of fans rushed to catch a glimpse of the actor at the premiere at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on December 4. Blockbuster ‘Pushpa: The Rule’.
The ‘Pushpa’ actor wished the boy’s speedy recovery and said he hopes to meet him and his family soon.
In a post on ‘X’, Arjun said: “I am deeply concerned about young Mr. Tej who is under constant medical care after the unfortunate incident. Due to ongoing legal proceedings, I have been advised not to visit him and his family. My prayers remain with them at this time and I I am committed to taking responsibility for addressing the medical and family needs.
Following the incident, the city police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) at the Chikkadapally police station based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family.
The artist, who was arrested in the case on December 13, was released from the jail where he spent the night on Saturday morning.
A medical bulletin of the private hospital where the boy is being treated on Saturday said, “Mr. Tej continues on ventilatory support with minimum requirements in Piku (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).” He is “hemodynamically” stable and tolerating tube feeding, his treating doctor said, adding that he has intermittent fevers and still has “altered sensorium and dystonic movements”.
Meanwhile, Telangana State Women’s Commission Chairperson Nerela Sharada, who visited the hospital on Sunday and inquired about the boy’s health, said precautions need to be taken to prevent such incidents.
Celebrities should give prior information to authorities about their visit before going to public places, she said.
She said that the government and the commission will stand with the child’s family and provide necessary support including treatment.
