A 19-year-old youth allegedly slashed the throat of a minor girl from his neighborhood with a knife while riding a bicycle to school in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district. He then carried her body on his shoulders for about 200 meters to their village, police said.
The locals beat up the accused Dharmapal Chauhan before handing him over to the police.
“We will arrest the accused and produce them in court,” Balrampur Circle Officer Brijanandan Rai said on Sunday. He said that a detailed investigation is underway to find out the cause of the murder.
The police are also investigating the claim that Dharampal beat up a girl student studying in class 8 a few months ago. It is said that the problem was solved through the mediation of the locals. Both belonged to the same community.
The police have discovered that Dharampal has been abusing the girl for some time. On Saturday, when the girl was going to school on a bicycle, he stopped her when she reached about 200 meters from the village. Before she could react, he allegedly pulled out a knife and slashed her throat. After she fainted, he carried her on his shoulder and returned to the village.
On Saturday, the police got the information that a young man cut the girl’s throat and took the body to the village. The girl was found in an unconscious state bleeding from her throat. After informing her parents, the doctor took her to the hospital and the doctor declared her dead.
Five days ago, Dharmapal had returned to the village after working from Delhi.
