Indian-origin Harshita Brela, who was found dead in east London last month, had told her mother that her husband was “going to kill himself”.
Harshita’s body was found in the boot of a car left behind in east London but British police believe the 24-year-old was strangled to death in Corby, Northamptonshire on November 10 and taken to Ilford before her body was later found. November 14.
According to the police, Harshita’s husband Pankaj Lamba is the main accused in the incident.
Harshita’s mother Sudesh Kumari said in an interview BBC “Pankaj made her life miserable.” Kumari added, ‘Harshita has said, ‘I will not go back to her. He’ll kill me.”
After Harshita’s body was found, an international search for Pankaj began, but even after a month, her husband is still absconding. Harshita’s family believes that Pankaj is somewhere in India but the Indian police have not “heard” them.
Northamptonshire Police said their investigation “continues at pace and is following several lines of enquiry,” without confirming whether they have been in contact with Indian authorities regarding the case.
In an interview, Harshita’s family also alleged that she had a miscarriage before her death. His father Satbir Brela told the BBC, “I used to tell him, after I die, I want you to perform my last rites. I didn’t know I had to do her job.
Assistant Chief Constable Emma James of Northamptonshire Police said: “Maintaining the integrity of our investigation and bringing Harshita to justice is our first priority and as a result there are aspects of this case on which we are unable to comment. moment.”
Satveer Brela also claimed that Harshita, her husband Pankaj, beat her “really badly” and beat her up on the street.
