Vice President of Haryana Women’s Committee arrested in bribery case Chandigarh news

Haryana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Haryana State Commission for Women vice-chairperson Sonia Aggarwal and her driver Kulbir this evening for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification.

Based on a complaint filed by JBT teacher Anil Kumar of Jind, ACB officials raided the house of Sonia Aggarwal at Kharkhoda in Sonepat. Both Sonia and Kulbir were detained under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

ACB sources revealed that Sonia and Kulbir had demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh to settle a complaint filed by Neelam, wife of Bahadurgarh-based Haryana police sub-inspector Anil Kumar. The couple appeared before Sonia Aggarwal in a matrimonial dispute case.

After the hearing on December 12, Kulbir allegedly demanded a bribe from Anil Kumar to settle the case. Based on Anil’s complaint, an ACB team led by DSP Kamaljit (ACB Unit, Jind) laid a trap and caught Kulbir red-handed while accepting money at Jindal Park in Hisar. After that, Sonia Agarwal was arrested from her residence in Kharkhoda.

According to ACB officials, Sonia instructed Anil Kumar to bribe the driver to settle the dispute. Both Sonia and Kulvir have been arrested in the bribery case and will be produced in the court tomorrow.
