In the investigation conducted by the Enforcement Directorate, it was revealed that the body was found a day ago Businessman Manoj Parmar and his wife Neha were found at their home In Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district, he made a phone call to the ED’s Bhopal zonal office to inform them that he was going to join the investigation, but he did not turn up.
The ED on Saturday claimed that no ED officer/official had any contact with Parmar or his wife after the conclusion of the search earlier this week.
Parmar and Neha along with their three children went to a temple in Susner on Thursday and returned late at night. After the couple did not wake up on Friday morning, the eldest son went to check on them and found out that they had committed suicide. The police arrived at 8:30 in the morning and sent the body for post-mortem.
An ED official said the couple were called by the ED on December 9 and December 10 — four days after the search ended, to record their statements. However, both of them could not attend. “Their nephew Rohit Parmar came to the office with an adjournment request and it was accepted and a new date (December 12) was given. On December 10, an email came from Manoj Parmar that he was willing to be present on December 12 at 3.30 pm to give a statement … On December 12 at 12 noon, a call came to the reception of the ED’s Bhopal zonal office, to which Parmar said. He was on his way and he reached the office by 3:30, but again he failed to attend,” the official said.
Addressing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his alleged suicide note, Parmar wrote that he was forced to take the extreme step because the ED was harassing him because he “joined you (Rahul) and worked for the Congress”. “After my death, the responsibility of these children belongs to you and the Congress, so the message goes that the party is with its workers,” he wrote.
On December 5, ED’s Bhopal regional office conducted searches at four premises in Sehore and Indore as part of the investigation against Parmar. The ED had started their investigation based on an FIR filed by the CBI against Parmar and a senior manager of Punjab National Bank. According to the CBI, a loan of Rs 6 crore was received under the Prime Minister’s Employment Creation Program and the Chief Minister’s Youth Entrepreneur Scheme. However, these funds are alleged to have been spent.
Bhopal: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke to the children of a couple who committed suicide in MP on Saturday. State Congress President Jitu Patwari has reached Ashta to meet the children. Gandhi spoke to the children – two sons and a daughter – on the Patwari’s phone. During the call, the couple’s elder son told Gandhi that his father “chose to take his own life rather than succumb to ED pressure to get them (the children) to join the BJP”. PTI
