Neeraj Chopra’s Paris 2024 shirt included in WA’s heritage collection Sports Other News

The shirt worn by javelin star Neeraj Chopra at this year’s Paris Olympics is one of the artefacts currently on display at the Museum of World Athletics (MOWA)’s online 3D platform. Chopra is one of 23 athletes whose artworks are on display here.

In addition to Neeraj, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the World Athletics (WA) Women’s Field Event Athlete of the Year, and fellow Paris Olympic medalist The Lafond are among the athletes whose competition artifacts are included in the heritage collection.

A monster throw of 92.97 meters by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem at the Paris Olympics did not prevent Neeraj from winning his second Olympic gold. But in one of the best throws of the night, the Indian won the silver with a best throw of 89.45m.

WA president Sebastian Coe praised the athletes for donating their competition gear and medals.

“Keeping our Olympic collection up to date, we are proud to announce donations from Paris 2024 medalists: Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump), Thea Lafond (triple jump) and Neeraj Chopra. Thank you to the athletes who donated their competition clothing, footwear and apparel to our museum collection in 2024. have also donated medals,” Koi said in a statement.

“This year we received historic Olympic winning items from two icons of the 1960s, Wyomia Tyus and Billy Mills, and from 1980 Olympic 100m champion Alan Wells, as well as 2000 and 2008 Olympic heptathlon gold medalists, Naniskali Doniskali and Denisia Levy, respectively. Filbert Bei (Middle Distance Runner), David Rudisha (Middle-Distance) And Davina Charlton’s (hurdler) world record shoes and singles are also worth reminding ourselves that there would be no collection, no museum of world athletics, without the athletes selflessly supporting our heritage program ,” he added.
