A bomb threat was reported via e-mail at Delhi Public School (DPS) RK Puram on Saturday morning. According to Delhi Fire Services, this email is a fraud.
This is the second such incident in two days and comes after similar incidents were reported in at least 30 schools in the national capital on Friday.
Police traced a minor boy, a school student, hours after he allegedly sent emails warning of these threats to schools, including his own. The police said that even though nothing suspicious was found, the boy took this step to prevent him from appearing in his upcoming examination. He was let go after counselling, police sources said.
Emergency response teams including local police, bomb detection units and dog teams rushed to the school to conduct a search operation, the news agency said. PTI Reported.
“We received a call about a bomb threat at DPS RK Puram at 6:09 am,” said a Delhi Fire Service official.
According to police, the email was sent from a masked virtual private network (VPN), which was tracked in the US, Canada, Sweden and the Netherlands. A police source said the emails were received on Friday evening, with the sender mentioning “parent-teacher meetings” and “sports day” activities at the schools. The dispatcher also mentioned that “schools will face bombings” on Friday and Saturday, the source added.
LATEST THREATS At least 44 schools received similar emails on Monday that police declared as hoaxes.
