Rashmika Mandanna seems to have developed an affinity for characters with very deep but sketchy romantic relationships. From Gita Govindam to present Flower 2: ruleRashmika’s characters go through a rollercoaster of emotions. Another film to join this list is actor-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran’s The Girlfriend. Presented by Geeta Arts and in collaboration with Mass Movie Makers and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, the teaser of The Girlfriend was released on Monday.

The teaser begins with the voice of Rashmika’s Dear Comrade co-star Vijay Deverakonda. Through an intense poem, we are introduced to the character of Rashmika, a college going girl who finds herself in a relationship that takes her through a whole range of emotions. These montage sequences are elevated by the wonderful music of Hesham Abdul Wahab, who is gradually making relationship dramas his forte. Dixit Shetty plays Rashmika’s boyfriend in the film, which is in the final stages of shooting.

Sharing the teaser, Vijay Deverakonda penned a touching note, and praised Rashmika to the skies. “I’m loving every scene of this teaser. I’m so excited to see this drama,” Vijay wrote. He elaborated on Rashmika’s professional development. “She was a lucky charm for many of us actors, being part of our biggest success.” An actor, an artist and a star grows fiercely but still remains the same girl as a person, the same girl he met on set 8 years ago.

With cinematography by Krishnan Vasantha and editing by Chota K Prasad, The Girlfriend also stars Rao Ramesh and Rohini in lead roles.
