Punjabi music star Karan Aujla’s show in Chandigarh on Saturday did not go down well with BJP leader Arun Sood. He saw that in a city like Chandigarh where smoking is not allowed in public, alcohol was consumed openly at events. Sud also claimed that the entire city was suffocated by the residents around the incident who were held hostage for hours.
“Half of Chandigarh was affected due to traffic jams due to the Aujla incident at Sector 34 Maidan on Saturday and the residents of nearby areas had to face a lot of problems throughout the day,” said former state BJP chief and Mayor Sood. . He said that people were locked in their homes all day.
His comments came ahead of a performance by acclaimed Punjabi singers Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon in Chandigarh. Expressing concern about the upcoming concerts in the city, Sood said he plans to take up the issue with Chandigarh administrator Gulab Chand Kataria.
He said that there will be a lot of activity in Sector 34 around the emergency hospital and such programs should not be held in Sector 25 ground.
“Chandigarh is a small city. More than 20,000 people were there yesterday (Saturday). Similarly, the famous Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s big show will be held at Sector 34 ground in Chandigarh on December 14, followed by singer AP Dhillon’s show on December 21. “Thousands of spectators and fans will come to these events along with a large number of vehicles,” Sood said in a statement.
He said that Sector 34 is in the middle of the city and heavy traffic from Delhi, Haryana and Punjab also passes through the road near Sector 34 and Sector 32 hospitals.
“Whenever there is a big incident in Sector 34 ground, it is seen that all the nearby roads are closed for hours and the traffic is stopped. Many ambulances carrying critical patients from Punjab and Haryana go to PGIMER and Sector 32 Hospital through this road and they also face a lot of problems,” said the former mayor.
“Now, considering the huge crowd for the events on December 14 and 21, it seems that the roads around these areas will remain closed throughout the day. All citizens living around these areas will have to face inconvenience again. If someone were to face a medical emergency, they would be left to their own devices.
