Delhi slums deteriorating due to corrupt AAP govt: BJP steps up protest | Delhi News

The BJP’s Delhi unit staged protests across the city on Sunday as it doubled down on its campaign against AAP to highlight the local infrastructure issues of slums. The party issued a statement saying that it has protested in 968 small and big settlements.

In Govindpuri Basti, South Delhi MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri said the situation is bad because of the corrupt AAP government. “There are no proper roads, sanitation or drinking water facilities. Residents of these settlements are deprived of basic facilities. BJP will work to fulfill the aspirations of slum dwellers after forming the government,” he said.

With the Delhi assembly elections due in February next year, the BJP is focusing on unauthorized colonies and slums that are considered AAP strongholds.

Earlier, MPs and senior party leaders had spent the night at the houses of residents of unauthorized settlements. On Sunday, Delhi BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal said that senior party leaders will sit in slum groups on the night of December 15 and talk to residents about their problems.

North West Delhi MP Yogendra Chandolia was part of the protest at JJ Colony in Bawana, while West Delhi MP Kamaljit Sehrawat Goyala was present at Deri Basti. She accused the AAP government of forcing slum dwellers to live without any facilities.

Other BJP MPs and senior leaders such as Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, MLAs Abhay Verma, OP Sharma and Jitendra Mahajan, and former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay also participated in the protests in various assembly constituencies. .
