BJP protested against Sakhu Sarkar in Nahan Chandigarh news

Led by Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal, hundreds of party workers from parts of Sirmaur district on Sunday took out a rally and held a public meeting here against the alleged betrayal of the people by the Congress government.

Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami and Lok Sabha MP Suresh Kashyap, former minister Sukhram Chaudhary, backbench MLA Reena Kashyap and other BJP leaders also participated in the protest.

BJP workers came from all the six BJP mandals of the district and gathered at the Hindu Ashram here. Carrying placards with slogans against the state government, they accused the ruling Congress of not working at all levels and of deceiving the people by giving false assurances in the last assembly elections.

The protest rally reached Bada Chowk in the center of the city in the afternoon via Mall Road and Gunnughat Bazar where the BJP workers held a public meeting.

Addressing the workers, Vindal accused the state government of not fulfilling the election guarantee and spreading lies every day to mislead the people.

He claimed that the people of Himachal Pradesh are fed up with the poor government.

The BJP leader said Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had announced guarantees, including one lakh jobs in the government sector every year and five lakh jobs for unemployed youth, ahead of the assembly elections.

Citing the promise of the Congress to give Rs 1,500 per month to women in the age group of 18 to 59 years, Vindal alleged that for the past two years, those who filled the forms for the same have been sitting in government offices.

He said that the government had promised to provide 300 units of free electricity to 2.5 million consumers and many other facilities, but now all sections of the society feel cheated.

All development activities in Himachal Pradesh have come to a standstill and the state government is not even able to pay salaries and pensions on time, BJP leaders claimed.
