After December 11th, the temperature in Kolkata will drop by 2 to 3 degree Celsius Kolkata News

The Meteorological Department has predicted a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in Kolkata and surrounding districts after December 11. But there will be some ups and downs before the full arrival of winter, according to the Meteorological Department.

‘Now a low pressure area has formed in the southeast Bay of Bengal… The vortex of this low pressure area has spread up to 5.8 km from the sea level. But this low pressure area is far away from our state,” said Somnath Dutt, Director, Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata.

However, southerly winds will bring moisture to South Bengal, leading to a slight rise in minimum temperatures for three days from Sunday (December 8-10). This will delay the arrival of winter.

Dutt said, ‘Today (December 8), tomorrow (December 9) and the next day (December 10) due to south-westerly winds, large amount of water vapor will enter… This will bring minimum temperature in the districts of South Bengal.

A slight variation will be seen over North Bengal, with easterly winds preventing a significant rise in temperature.

“Winter will come in Bengal with free entry of cold air from Wednesday,” said the Meteorological Department.

The maximum temperature on Sunday is expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature around 15 degrees Celsius. On Monday and Tuesday, there will be a partial to normal change in temperature.

After December 11, the temperature is expected to decrease gradually.

Dense fog warning has been issued for North Bengal districts (Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, North Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda) on Sunday. While moderate fog warning has been issued in several districts of South Bengal.

Darjeeling is likely to receive snowfall till Monday and light rain is likely on Tuesday.

Light rain is likely over many districts of South Bengal like Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, West Medinipur, East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia on Sunday and Monday.
