According to Deepalakshmi, soaked mung beans are a good source of protein and fiber which helps in weight loss and aids in digestion. โ€œSoaking mung beans breaks down the phytic acid and improves absorption of nutrients like iron, zinc and calcium. It is low on the glycemic index and is a good snack for people with diabetes,โ€ she said.

Soaked moong dal is also low in calories, helps lower cholesterol and promotes heart health. It contains antioxidants and nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, which boost immune function.

Hence, she cautioned and encouraged people to follow strict portion control to reap the benefits without risking the downsides.
