Sarwan Singh Pandher, a farmer leader in Punjab, said on Saturday that they have not received any message from the Center for talks to address their issues and said that a group of 101 farmers will start their march to Delhi again on December 8.

Addressing mediapersons at Shambhu on the Punjab-Haryana border on Saturday, Pandher said that 16 farmers were injured and one lost hearing when Haryana security forces fired tear gas.

Apart from the four injured farmers, others have been discharged from the hospital, he said, “There has been no message from the center for talks.” The Narendra Modi government is in no mood to negotiate. He said that the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Labor Morcha have already decided to leave the ‘jatha’ of 101 farmers peacefully towards the national capital on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Police is set to stop mediapersons at a distance of “minimum 1 km” on Sunday as the protesting farmers’ jatha begins its march.
Haryana ADGP (law and order) Sanjay Kumar wrote to the DGPs of Haryana and Punjab that “in the interest of safety of media persons and their equipment”, mediapersons should be stopped at a safe distance of at least 1 km.

On December 6, when the farmers started marching towards the Haryana border, a large number of media persons accompanied them. “Due to this, the Haryana Police faced many problems in handling the law and order situation”, the ADGP wrote.
