Cristiano Ronaldo’s prediction about Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe seems to be coming true. When the French superstar joined the Spanish giants in the summer, Ronaldo said he would wait to see if Real Madrid were ‘better than last season’ when they won the Champions League.
Now, with Mbappe struggling for form – he has twice missed penalties in crucial situations this week – and Real Madrid enduring a lackluster season domestically and in Europe, a video of Ronaldo making his prediction has resurfaced.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner told the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast: “Let’s see if his head is clear and good and if he can handle the pressure because Real Madrid is not PSG. I can tell you, when Mbappe goes there, I think Madrid will be strong but I don’t know if they will be better than last season.”
Indeed, Mbappe, who has spent most of his career at Paris Saint-Germain, seems to find it difficult to handle the demands at Real.
Mbappe was in the news this week after missing a penalty in Athletic Bilbao’s La Liga win over Real. It was his second penalty miss in a week after he also failed to convert a penalty against Liverpool in the Champions League.
Real’s season was also average. They have lost three of their five games so far, trailing Barcelona in La Liga and the Champions League.
