“Love has no age, no boundaries, and no death,” is a timeless quote by English novelist John Galsworthy, and one Philadelphia couple lived up to it.
Bernie Littman, 100, and Marjorie Fitterman, 102, set a new Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest newlyweds at a combined age of 202. This remarkable achievement was officially recognized by Guinness World Records on December 3.
Their love story began nine years ago at a senior living community in Philadelphia, where they first met at a costume party. Their connection was instant, and over time, their bond deepened, culminating in a wedding ceremony on May 19th where their journey began.
Bernie and Marjorie had already experienced full and rich lives, each having been married to their previous husbands for more than six decades before losing them in death. Although they both attended the University of Pennsylvania at the same time in their youth, fate had to wait until their later years to bring them together. Bernie worked as an engineer, while Marjorie devoted her life to teaching.
Rabbi Adam Wolberg, who officiated the ceremony Fox News“Most of the couples I marry these days met on some sort of dating app. I like the old ways, where you live in the same building, bump into each other, and fall in love.”
Four generations of Bernie’s family attended the wedding. With their loved ones by their side, the couple exchanged vows under a traditional Jewish chupah at their senior living facility. As they begin this new chapter of their lives together, Bernie and Marjorie are wheeled into the ceremony and beam with joy.
