New Delhi:
Police said on Saturday that a 50-year-old woman was stabbed to death because her son did not allow her to go to Canada for work.
The incident took place in Molarband village in Southeast Delhi’s Badarpur area, they said.
After murdering his mother on the evening of November 6, the accused Krishna Kant (31) called his father Surjit Singh (52) and asked him to come home.
When Singh got home, Krishnakant told him “excuse me” and told him not to go upstairs and see what he had done, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh said.
He said that on reaching the first floor of the house, Singh found his wife Geeta covered in blood with a knife on her body and the accused managed to escape.
Singh rushed Geeta to Apollo Hospital where she was declared brought dead, police said.
DCP said that Singh has two sons. His younger son Sahil Bholi (27) works in a bank. Krishnakanth was unemployed and a drug addict.
“Both the sons are unmarried and only Geeta and the accused were present in the house at the time of the incident,” the officer said.
Later, Krishnakanth was arrested from the same area and a case of murder was registered against him, the official said.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he wanted to go to Canada but his family wanted him to get married first.
The police said that on the day of the murder, there was a fight between mother and son and Krishna Kant stabbed Geeta with a knife he bought some time ago.
Singh deals in property and has an office at Tanki Road in Jaitpur, the official said.
