A four-year-old girl who went missing from Delhi’s Rajouri Gardens nearly three weeks ago was rescued on Monday, police have arrested two women in connection with the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi) Vichitra Veer said on Wednesday that the arrested women – Roma Gupta, 36, and Aradhana Kashyap, 32 – confessed to abducting the child because they wanted to raise it. .
The official said that on December 1, a woman informed the police that her daughter had gone missing near Delhi’s municipal school in Rajouri Gardens. Police launched an investigation, examining more than 200 CCTV camera feeds and circulating images of the girl to various local communities.
“On December 23, a tip-off was received about finding a girl matching the description of the missing child in Nilothi, Delhi, which led to the safe rescue of the girl from Vikas Vihar,” said DCP Veer.
A police official said that the activities of both Gupta and Kashyap of Nilothi area were linked to the disappearance of the girl.
