Ahmedabad police arrested two more people in connection with the parcel bomb blast in Sabarmati area on Saturday that left two injured. The incident, which shocked neighbors, was the result of a carefully planned revenge plot by 44-year-old Rupen Rao targeting his estranged wife’s family.
On Saturday morning, the blast occurred while delivering a parcel containing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to the house of Rao’s in-laws. After detonating the package as soon as the package was opened, the police arrested two people who injured a family member by detonating a parcel in Sabarmati area on Saturday. The injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital and are currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the reason behind the attack was a long-standing dispute between Rao and his wife’s family. Sources indicate that Rao harbored resentment against them after the bitter break-up and decided to take revenge through a calculated act.
The police traced the delivery trail of the parcel and arrested Rao immediately. Subsequent inquiries led to the arrest of two of his accomplices, whose identities have not been released. Officials believe these men helped Rao procure materials for IEDs and assemble the devices.
Ahmedabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Neha Patel said forensic experts are analyzing evidence collected from the blast site to identify the materials used in the bomb. He also confirmed that Rao and his associates would face charges under the Explosives Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code for attempt and conspiracy to murder.
The incident has raised concerns about public safety, and officials have assured residents that strict measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future. As the investigation continues, the police are determined to uncover all the details surrounding the incident.
