The Odisha government is going to implement a new system at the Jagannath temple, Puri, to provide better facilities to devotees to ‘darshan’ the deities, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said on Sunday.
Talking to mediapersons here, Harichandan said that the government is taking initiatives to implement a new arrangement for public darshan at the Jagannath temple from January 1.
“Necessary arrangements are being made. The necessary work will be completed by December 27 or 28. The new system will be implemented on a trial basis for two days on January 30 and 31. He said that the new darshan system will be fully implemented from January 1. .
The minister said that special arrangements have been made for women, children, people with various disabilities and senior citizens visiting the temple.
According to the new arrangement, devotees will enter the Jagannath temple through the current gate (Satapachacha) and exit through two different gates (Ghanti and Garada).
Harichandan said that he and Sree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Arvind Padhye visited the temple on Saturday and reviewed the work being done to construct new structures in the temple. PTI BBM
