Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy praised the Christian community for their significant contribution to education and healthcare, noting that their services are often more than those provided by the state government.
He was addressing the official Christmas function organized by the state government at the LB Stadium here on Saturday.
Revanth Reddy referred to December as a “miraculous month”, pointing to its significance as the month of the birth of Jesus Christ, the birth of Sonia Gandhi, and the beginning of the Telangana statehood process in 2009. He emphasized the universal value and recognition of love. Compassion taught by Christ.
He said, ‘Christmas is the most celebrated festival in the world.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Christian community in building a “healthy Telangana” and reiterated his government’s commitment to religious equality.
“Our government will not tolerate blasphemy of any religion. Everyone has the right to practice their faith, and this government ensures 100 percent security for everyone,” he said.
Revanth Reddy announced several initiatives to benefit Dalit Christians, including extending the 200-unit free electricity scheme and allocating Indiramma houses after Sankranti. He assured the community of fair share in all welfare schemes and asked TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud to identify active Christian leaders within the party.
“This is a government that treats all religions equally, this government is yours,” he said.
The chief minister concluded the celebration by cutting the Christmas cake.
The main attraction of the event was the Twin City Choir Group, consisting of 250 professional singers.
The distribution of prizes to the winners of various sports competitions and book competitions was concluded.
Minister Panguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponam Prabhakar, MLAs, MLCs, pastors, bishops and other leaders were present at the grand function.
