One8 Commune, a bar and restaurant co-owned by Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, has been warned of action by the Bengaluru civic body for operating without necessary permits including an NOC from the fire department.
BBMP’s letter threatening to take action if the establishment does not respond within seven days has alleged that earlier communications were also unanswered.
The civic body’s notice comes after a complaint by activists HM Venkatesh and Kunigal Narasimha Murthy, who alleged that the restaurant lacked fire safety measures.
This is not the first time that the establishment has been in the limelight for the wrong reasons. Earlier this year, Cubbon Park police registered a case after three bars and restaurants, including One8 Commune, were found to be operating beyond permitted hours.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team raided One8 Commune located in Ratnams Complex building on Kasturba Road near MG Road at around 2 am on Saturday morning and found it to be fully operational. The manager of the pub was booked under the Karnataka Police Act, 1963.
