Minister Majumdar said that Northeast India’s unique geographic location at the confluence of India, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal makes the region a “bridge of connectivity, trade and diplomacy”.

He said that the Northeast region is strategically important and a symbol of the country’s diversity and culture.

Majumdar also said the same in the pre-plenary technical session of NEC on Friday before the 72nd plenary meeting. “The North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme ensures 100 per cent central funds to the state governments of the North-East region to implement connectivity projects to enhance physical infrastructure – power, water supply, tourism and social infrastructure,” the minister said.

NEC Secretary Angshuman Dey, who also joined the NEC Pre-Plenary Technical Session, said the DoNER Ministry is expected to host the North East Investors Conference in Delhi in April next year.

Meanwhile, the leader of the provincial opposition party and the provincial secretary of CPN, Jitendra Choudhary, has strongly objected to the full meeting of the NEC and the activities of the council in this area on Saturday.

NEC meetings are held for the construction of important infrastructure such as roads in Bhandari, Maldapara and Rojapara. Due to lack of budget, the road expansion has not been done in the regular budget. NEC has been formed to fill critical gaps and build critical infrastructure. However, now sports and festivals are being organized under the funds of NEC. Sports is a good thing. Drug free centers are also being established with the funds of NEC. What do you review here (in this situation)?” he asked.

Chaudhary alleged that the “real reason” for central ministers and governors, along with North-Eastern chief ministers to join the NEC plenary meeting at Agartala, was to “consolidate the weak party organization and give it a little boost”. “But the reality is that no amount of welding will save the day. The people of Tripura are getting ready,’ he added.

Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Tripura, is scheduled to attend the banking summit in Agartala in the afternoon, visit the Reang (Bru) resettlement colony in Haduklau area of Dhalai district and participate in the National Cooperative Conference. Agartala.
