A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party on Friday (Dec 20, 2024) raised the issue of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s fast to death with Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and urged him to intervene and pressure the Center to hold talks with the protesters. Farmers.

AAP’s Punjab unit president Aman Arora stressed that the just demands of the farmers should be met without delay.
He added, “Farmers are the backbone of our nation. Continued neglect of their demands and breaking of past promises by the central government is a matter of grave concern. Urgent steps should be taken to address their problems and ensure their health and safety. Well done to Dallewal.”
Mr. Dallewal (70), a cancer patient, is on a hunger strike to pressurize the Center to accept farmers’ demands, including a legal guarantee of MSP for crops at the Khanuri border crossing between Punjab and Haryana.
Farmers under the banners of the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping since February 13 at the Shambhu and Khanuri borders between Punjab and Haryana after security forces stopped their movement towards Delhi.
AAP MPs, including Raghav Chadha from Punjab, staged a protest outside Parliament on Friday, demanding immediate action from the central government on the farmers’ issue and expressing deep concern over Dallewal’s deteriorating health.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday (Dec 19) said the Center should give up its “obstinacy” and talk to farmers who are agitating in support of their demands.
Maan also said that it is the duty of the center to talk with the farmers and any problem can be solved only through talks.
Meanwhile, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Punjab and demanded the removal of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the Cabinet over BR Ambedkar’s comments.
“It is unacceptable for a person holding a high constitutional post like Home Minister to make derogatory comments about Dr BR Ambedkar, an incomparable figure of Indian history and the chief architect of our Constitution.
This has caused widespread hurt and anger among Indians, including the people of Punjab, and reflects badly on the constitutional values โโof the present government,โ Arora said.
The delegation included Minister Harjot Singh Bains, MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair and MLA Kulwant Singh.
Meanwhile, AAP has also staged protests at several places in the state over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks.
