Former minister CT Ravi MLC claimed that by arresting him on ‘baseless charges and without jurisdiction’, the Congress government made every effort to discourage and attack him by using police power.

Addressing a press conference after his release in Davangere on Friday evening, Mr. Ravi said: “I have been arrested without notice, on baseless charges and without jurisdiction. I was taken to four districts, over 50 villages for 11 hours to humiliate me.”

‘Truth has won’

Mentioning that he will not comment much on the court’s order, he said that as he said earlier, truth has won. He said that in the last 35 years, he has seen the strategy of the Congress to use force to suppress the protestors and such efforts have strengthened the resolve to fight.

Earlier, state BJP chief BY Vijayendra said the police treated Mr. Ravi inhumanely without treating him even though he was injured and brought him to several places on the instructions of people who regularly called the police for Ravi’s protection. . The case should be handed over to the CBI as demanded by Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R Ashok, he said.

He called the High Court’s order on interim bail a ‘slap on the face of the state government’.

‘Don’t wear bangles’

He said BJP workers would not tolerate thuggery by Congress leaders and were “not wearing bangles” to remain silent.

He said that since there are cases of human rights violations, the party leaders will sit together and decide the next action against the ‘tyranny of the government’.
